She began her music career by appearing on the ITV Talent competition Pop Idol at the age of sixteen, afterwards going on tour in Europe with a jazz trio and later becoming the lead singer for the dance-pop band Dead Disco before eventually embarking on a sole career. Taking her stage name from the film Caligula (meaning Little Boots in Latin), from which she was nicknamed by a friend, she has become linked to a wave of recent breakthrough female artists in their 20’s including Lady Gaga, Ladyhawke and Florence and the Machine, in particular her win in BBC Sound of Music 2009 poll and a BRIT critics choice award nomination have brought her mainstream media attention. Her debut album, Hands, released on the 8th of June 2009, peaked at #5 in the UK album charts and to date has produced her highest charting single New in Town. As a musician Little Boots sings and plays the keyboard, piano, stylophone and a Japanese electronic instrument, called a Tenori-on.

White Lies are an English alternative rock band from Ealing in West London. Formerly known as Fear of Flying, the band consists primarily of Harry McVeigh (lead vocals, guitar) Charles Cave (bass guitar and backing vocals), and Jack Lawrence-Brown (drums). The band are complemented by Tommy Bowen (keyboards) during live performances.
White Lies formed in October 2007, upon writing songs they felt didn't suit their original band. After delaying their first performance for five months to build up media hype, they earned a recording contract with Fiction Records days after their debut. The release of singles "Unfinished Business" and "Death" led to tours and festival appearances in the United Kingdom and North America, including a headline performance at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend and a place on the 2009 NME Awards Tour. Further singles "To Lose My Life" and "Farewell to the Fairground" led to further media attention and the band's first worldwide headline tour. Upon the release of their debut album, To Lose My Life..., White Lies became the first British act in 2009 to achieve a number one album.
At the beginning of 2009, White Lies featured in multiple "ones to watch" polls for the coming year, including the BBC's Sound of 2009 poll and the 2009 BRITs Critics' Choice Award. White Lies' musical style has been described as dark yet uplifting by the media, drawing comparisons to Joy Division, Editors and Interpol.

Barry Manilow to play Hyde Park. Compare ticket prices, buy the best
Barry Manilow has been confirmed for the BBC Proms In The Park event, in London's Hyde Park on September 12th. Also on the bill will be Katherine Jenkins and many more. Tickets are on sale now. The event will also see performances from acclaimed Icelandic tenor sensation Garoar Thor Cortes and the BBC Concert Orchestra under the baton of Martin Yates. The gig coincides with the traditional Last Night of the Proms show, and will culminate in a live video link-up with the Royal Albert Hall to allow promenaders to join in with old favourites like Jerusalem and Rule Britannia.

New tours on sale: Alice Cooper, Tori Amos, Placebo & more

There have been a lot of new updates to the site with loads more bands and artists on the road for the summer.
Big names on sale today, Friday 29th, include Alice Cooper, Tori Amos, Placebo, more dates for Beyonce (near Christmas, she's on tour now but will be back), Lisa Hannigan, Saint Etienne performing their seminal album Foxbase Alpha in full, Oscar-winning Japanese pianist Ryuichi Sakamoto and DJ Yoda.
More recent additions include legendary songwriter Jimmy Webb (writer of many classic songs for Dolly Parton, Glen Campbell, etc.), Alesha Dixon, The Twang, White Denim, Offspring, Air Traffic, Nine Black Alps, The Answer, Cornershop, Elliot Minor and Young Guns. A one-off concert by Spinal Tap has been announced, with tickets on sale Friday April 10th. The gig, part of the band's One Night Only world tour, will play Wembley Arena on June 30th.

Spinal Tap is a semi-fictional heavy metal band, the subject of the 1984 rockumentary/mockumentary film This Is Spinal Tap. The band members are portrayed by Michael McKean (as David St. Hubbins), Christopher Guest (as Nigel Tufnel) and Harry Shearer (as Derek Smalls). They first appeared in a 1978 ABC comedy special, The TV Show. The same trio of actors would be reunited as the American folk music revival band The Folksmen in the 2003 mockumentary A Mighty Wind. This is Spinal Tap was accompanied by a soundtrack album of the same name. In the years since the film was made the actors who portrayed the band members have played concerts and released music under the Spinal Tap name. Guest, McKean, and Shearer are planning a U.S. tour in April and May 2009.

The Leeds and Reading Festivals went on sale Monday night, and we have
hundreds of tickets in all packages available. The Arctic Monkeys, Kings

The big concerts on sale right now are Spandau Ballet, reformed and

Kanye West to headline Wireless Festival
Kanye West has been announced as headline act for the Sunday of the two-day Wireless Festival, taking place in London's Hyde Park on July 4th and 5th. Basement Jaxx, The Streets, Paul Oakenfold and Dizzee Rascal are also confirmed for the event. Tickets go on sale Friday March 27th at 9am.

Neil Young, Pretenders, Fleet Foxes for Hyde Park concert. Buy tickets
Legendary singer songwriter Neil Young has been confirmed as the headline act for the Satuday 27th June show of Hard Rock Calling in London's Hyde Park, and tickets will be on sale Friday 13th March. Neil Young will be joined by special guests The Pretenders and Fleet Foxes, with many more acts to be announced. The Sunday 28th June show is already on sale, featuring Bruce Springsteen with The Gaslight Anthem and The Dave Matthews Band.
Neil Young will also be playing at Aberdeen and Nottingham, as well as headlining the final day of the Isle Of Wight Festival on June 14th. Former CSNY band members Crosby, Stills & Nash are also playing London, Manchester and Edinburgh in July.

The tour is the band’s first stadium outing since since the Vertigo Tour in 2005 and follows the release of their acclaimed album, No Line On The Horizon. Support acts for the event, will include a range of acts such as Glasvegas, Elbow, Kaiser Chiefs, Snow Patrol and Black Eyed Peas.

Michael Joseph Jackson (born August 29, 1958) is an American recording artist, entertainer, and businessman. The seventh child of the Jackson family, he debuted on the professional music scene at the age of 11 as a member of The Jackson 5 and began a solo career in 1971 while still a member of the group. Referred to as the "King of Pop" in subsequent years, five of his solo studio albums have become some of the world's best-selling records: Off the Wall (1979), Thriller (1982), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991) and HIStory (1995). Michael Jackson's series of 10 concerts at London's O2 arena in July will be "the final curtain call", he has said. He told fans at the venue: "This is it. I just want to say that these will be my final show performances in London." The pop superstar, 50, may take the show around the world, but it would be his last tour, the promoter said. He made a five-minute appearance in front of hundreds of screaming fans to announce the 10 London dates, which will earn him more than $50m (£35m). His first words to fans were: "I love you so much.
The first concert will be on 8 July, with tickets costing between £50 and £75. They go on general sale on 13 March. The star will put on a "big budget, grand, highly technical, incredible show", according to Randy Phillips, chief executive of promoter AEG Live. "Michael Jackson is a perfectionist so it's going to be amazing," Mr Phillips told BBC News. "He'll try a lot of new things." Asked whether the London dates would be his last ever performances, Mr Phillips replied: "These will be the last shows in London.
"Whether he will go on from here around the world... this will be his last tour. All he's agreed to are the London shows at this point." The star was "in great shape" for the dates, he said. "He's passed an extensive four-hour physical with independent third party doctors selected by the insurance carriers. He's in incredible health." Mr Phillips added that AEG had a "broader relationship" with Jackson, which could involve a new 3D film based on Thriller as well as future concerts.
The three-and-a-half year plan could earn Jackson more than $400m (£283m), he predicted. The singer had been due to appear at the O2 at 1600 GMT, but he only left his central London hotel at that time and arrived an hour and a half late for the announcement. Several hundred fans waited at the O2 to see him, and said they were not disappointed by his brief appearance.

Faith No More confirmed for Download Festival. Buy tickets now!
A newly reformed Faith No More have been confirmed as the third headliners at this year's Download festival. The Donington Park event, which takes place between 12 and 14 June, will be the only UK tour date for the band after 11 years apart. They will join Def Leppard and Slipknot on the Download bill. The band said in a statement that they had the "enthusiasm to not only revisit our past but possibly add something to the present." Other acts on the line up include The Prodigy, Korn, Pendulum, Marilyn Manson and Limp Bizkit. Live Nation VP of Promotions Andy Copping said: "Faith No More were the band that started the whole alternative music scene. "To have them play for the first time in eleven years exclusively at Download is amazing!"
Speaking about their recent reunion, the band added: "During the entire 10 years that have passed since our decision to break up we've experienced constant rumours and requests from fans and promoters alike. "The music still sounds good, and we are beginning to appreciate the fact that we might have actually done something right. What's changed is that this year, for the first time, we've all decided to sit down together and talk about it. And what we've discovered is that time has afforded us enough distance to look back on our years together through a clearer lens and made us realize that through all the hard work, the music still sounds good, and we are beginning to appreciate the fact that we might have actually done something right." Faith No More came to prominence in the UK when third album Angel Dust went to number two in the charts back in 1992. Follow-up King For a Day... Fool For a Lifetime reached number five three years later.

The Prodigy's new album Invaders Must Die has gone straight to the top of the UK album charts, making their fifth No.1 album and one of the fastest selling albums this year with over 100,000 copies sold.

Michael Jackson to announce London concerts

Michael Jackson is expected to announce a series of summer comeback concerts at the O2 arena in London. The pop legend is due to appear at the venue on Thursday make to a "special announcement", a statement said. It follows months of speculation about a string of money-spinning shows. Jackson last performed in 2006, at the World Music Awards in London.
But he disappointed fans at that event by singing just a few lines of We Are The World. He last toured 12 years ago. The O2, in Greenwich, south-east London, is the venue where Prince played for 21 nights in 2007, and where Britney Spears is performing for eight nights in June. Jackson would be likely to follow a similar pattern of a run of gigs at one venue, rather than an extensive tour. At Thursday's press conference, he will hope to convince fans he is fit enough to perform a number of full shows.
His last substantial series of concerts came in 1996 and '97, when he played 82 shows in 58 cities as part of the HIStory tour. His last album of original material came out in 2001. Stories about personal, health and financial problems have circulated in recent years, and he was cleared of child abuse after a four-month trial in 2005. The singer is selling many of the contents of his former Neverland ranch at auction in Los Angeles next month. But with classic releases like Thriller - the world's best-selling album - plus Bad and Off the Wall, he is the most successful entertainer of all time, according to Guinness World Records, and retains a huge global fan base.

In 2006, she released her debut single "Tim McGraw", which peaked at number six on the Billboard country charts. Later in October 2006, she released her self-titled debut album, which produced five hit singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts and was certified 3× Multi-Platinum by the RIAA. The New York Times described Swift as "one of pop's finest songwriters, country’s foremost pragmatist and more in touch with her inner life than most adults". According to Nielsen SoundScan, Swift was the biggest selling artist of 2008 in America with combined sales of more than four million albums. Swift's Fearless and her self-titled album finished 2008 at number three and number six respectively, with sales of 2.1 and 1.5 million. She was the first artist in the history of Nielsen SoundScan to have two different albums in the Top 10 on the year end album chart. Fearless has topped the Billboard 200 in nine different weeks.[6] No album has spent more time at the top since 1999-2000. It also the first album by a female artist in country music history to log eight weeks at #1 on The Billboard 200. In mid-January 2009, Swift became the first country artist to top the 2 million mark in paid downloads with three different songs. As of the week ending February 8, 2009, Swift's single "Love Story" became the country song with most paid downloads in history.

On 5 December 2008, she was nominated for the BBC's Sound of 2009 award, alongside acts including Frankmusik, Little Boots and Lady GaGa. Brown is an established songwriter who, under the alias "geeki", has written for artists such as the Sugababes and The Pussycat Dolls. She also composes instrumental scores in her spare time.

BRIT Awards winners see album sales soar
The winners at last week's BRIT Awards in London have seen a huge increase in sales of their current albums, as reflected in this weekend's album chart. Best International Group winners Kings Of Leon have regained the top spot with their album Only By The Night, while triple winner Duffy rose 15 places back to No.4 with Rockferry. Outstanding Contribution winners Pet Shop Boys also saw album sales increase, as did Elbow and The Ting Tings. Morrissey got the highest new entry this week as Years Of Refusal debuted at No.3.

Blur to headline T In The Park, Oxegen
Blur have announced plans to headline this year's T in the Park and Oxegen festivals. The reunited band join Kings Of Leon, Katy Perry and Snow Patrol for the UK and Irish festivals, which are due to take place from 10-12 July. Blur's appearance will follow their two sell-out shows in London's Hyde Park on 2 and 3 July. The band reunited at the end of last year after they recruited former guitarist Graham Coxon.
T in the Park festival director, Geoff Ellis, said: "It's fantastic that Blur have reformed and we're delighted to be able to confirm them for T in the Park this year, especially as the last time they played the festival was 10 years ago. Blur are an incredibly influential band whose closing performance could include festival anthems in the shape of Coffee & TV, Tender, Song 2, The Univeral and Parklife, to name but a few."
Blur will return to T in the Park for the first time since 1999, having also played in the King Tut's tent at the very first T in the Park festival, when it was held at Strathclyde Park in 1994. Their forthcoming appearances will be the first time Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree have played together as a band since 2000.

The March 14 fight sees the Bolton boxer back at the scene of his first professional defeat to take on Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera in the biggest challenge of his career. Last September thousands of fans saw Khan knocked out in the first round of his fight with relative unknown Breidis Prescott.
But veteran boxing promoter Mr Warren believes his protégé can defeat Barrera and become as famous as Ricky Hatton in the US. He said: "This is one of the fastest-selling fights I have ever promoted.
"I'm extremely happy with the way things are going, especially in this economic climate, and would expect it to sell out soon. I've brought some major shows to Manchester over the last 20 years and with Ricky Hatton coming from the city Manchester has firmly established itself as one of the centres of boxing. The vast majority of ticket-buyers are from Britain, but we expect people to fly in from the US and Mexico." Barrera, 34, who ended Naseem Hamed's unbeaten record in 2001, has won seven world titles in his career. One of the best boxers of his era, he remains a formidable opponent, despite losing to Manny Pacquiao - Hatton's potential next opponent - in a 2007 performance that suggested he was past his best. Mr Warren said: "Putting Amir in the ring with Barrera does make me nervous, it's not going to be an easy fight.
"But Amir is a quality fighter and his style, size and youth will be the deciding factor. I picked Barrera for Amir knowing that nothing is certain in boxing. Amir is a bigger attraction at this stage of his career than Ricky Hatton was since he came out of the Olympics and on to terrestrial TV. If he comes through his fight he will be a massive star in the US."
The M.E.N. Arena has staged some of the biggest British fights in recent times, featuring greats like Hatton, Hamed, Nigel Benn, Joe Calzaghe and Chris Eubank. Khan, 22, said: "I'm so happy that the fight is at the M.E.N. Arena and it's going to be an absolutely wicked atmosphere. There have been so many great nights there and I believe my fight against Barrera will rank alongside those - I just can't wait. This is a fight for the fans and a chance for them to see Barrera, who is a boxing legend, against a young fighter who aims to achieve what he has."

Madonna: New UK dates announced. Buy tickets
For the first time ever, Madonna has extended her world tour to more cities throughout 2009. After starting in Cardiff last August the Sticky and Sweet tour, to promote her current album Hard Candy, has played at venues all around the world. Paul Oakenfold will be her special guest on the new dates.
The tour will now continue in the summer with two UK dates announced: London O2 Arena on July 4th and Manchester MEN Arena on July 7th. Tickets will go on sale Friday February 6th.
The tour also takes in stadium dates in Milan, Barcelona and Munich, as well as dates in Oslo, Helsinki, Hamburg, Prague and Warsaw, with further dates planned in Bulgaria, Hungary, Russia, Romania, and Serbia.

The Fray is a Grammy Award-nominated four-piece alternative rock, Denver-based band. Formed in 2002 by schoolmates Isaac Slade and Joe King, the band released their debut album How to Save a Life in 2005. The band is best known for the song "How to Save a Life", which charted in the top three of the Billboard Hot 100 and was also a top 5 single in Canada, Australia, Ireland, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. The Fray also found national success with the song "Over My Head (Cable Car)", which became a top ten hit in the United States and Canada. How to Save a Life was certified double platinum by the RIAA and was also certified platinum in Australia and New Zealand.
