Leona Louise Lewis (born 3 April 1985) is an English pop and R&B singer–songwriter. Lewis rose to fame in 2006 as the winner of the third series of the British television series The X Factor. Lewis has become a multi-platinum selling artist and three time Grammy Award nominee. She has released two albums to date, Spirit and Echo, in 2007 and 2009 respectively.. Spirit became the fastest-selling debut album and the biggest seller of 2007 in both the UK and Republic of Ireland, and made Lewis the first British solo artist to top the Billboard 200 with a debut album. Her second album, Echo, is due for release in November 2009. Lewis's debut single "A Moment Like This" became the fastest selling UK single after being downloaded over 50,000 times within thirty minutes of its release. Her second single, "Bleeding Love", reached number one positions in over thirty singles charts around the world. In November 2008 she set a record in the UK for the fastest selling download-only release with her cover version of the Snow Patrol song "Run" which sold 69,244 copies in two days. In November 2009, the first set of dates for her 2010 debut world tour were announced. Lewis has sold over 6.5 million albums worldwide.

Iggy Pop (born James Newell Osterberg, Jr. on April 21, 1947) is an American songwriter, and occasional actor. Although he has had only limited mainstream commercial success, Iggy Pop is considered an influential innovator of punk rock, hard rock, and other related styles. Robbie Williams to play London. Compare ticket sites for best prices

Robbie Williams is back! The former Take That singer will be playing The Roundhouse in London on October 20th as part of the BBC's electric Proms season. Tickets for the show go on sale this Wednesday 23rd.

From the BBC:
The gig will be his first full-length concert in the UK for three years and will see him play songs from latest album, Reality Killed The Video Star. Tickets will cost £25 and are available from 8am on Wednesday morning. Also appearing at the Electric Proms so far this year are Dizzee Rascal, Doves, a reformed Magazine, Florence & The Machine, Metronomy and Smokey Robinson. During his set at the Electric Proms, Williams will be accompanied by a string and horn section as well as his full band. The show, which will be broadcast live on Radio 1, will be under the musical direction of record producer and songwriter Trevor Horn. Robbie Williams said: "I'm looking forward to playing my new songs, working with Trevor Horn again and seeing how people react to what I've been doing."

Profile:
Corynne Elliot (born 1983, London, England), better known as Speech Debelle, is a British rapper signed to the Big Dada record label. She was the winner of the 2009 Mercury Prize. Debelle had a comfortable middle-class upbringing, describing herself as being a "spoilt brat" as a child. Her father walked out on the family when she was six years old, and she was brought up by her mother. She attended Harris City Academy, and was frequently suspended from school, leaving with no qualifications. She began writing poetry aged nine and started rapping lyrics in the schoolyard aged 13. Back then, initial inspiration came courtesy of Michael Jackson, which quickly turned to Blackstreet, Mary J. Blige, TLC and reggae music. She left home age 19 after a falling-out with her mother and lived in homeless hostels for four years. She returned to her mother's house age 23 and began calling record labels, eventually being signed by Big Dada records. Debelle's debut album, Speech Therapy, was released in the United Kingdom on 31 May 2009. The album has had three singles released, "Searching", "The Key", and "Go Then, Bye". In 2009, she performed at the Glastonbury Festival. On 21 July 2009 Speech Therapy was announced as one of the shortlisted twelve albums for the year's Mercury Prize award. She won the 2009 Mercury Music Award with Speech Therapy beating albums from Sweet Billy Pilgrim, The Horrors, Florence and the Machine, Kasabian and Friendly Fires, among other artists.

Christopher Anton Rea (Ree-ah) (born 4 March 1951) is a singer-songwriter from Middlesbrough, England, recognisable for his distinctive, raspy voice. Rea has sold over 30 million albums worldwide. Rea began to focus his attention on continental Europe, releasing eight albums in the 1980s. It wasn't until 1985's Shamrock Diaries and the songs "Stainsby Girls" and "Josephine" that UK audiences began to take notice of him (on 5 July 1986 Rea played in front of 95,000 people at Slane Castle, Ireland, as a supporting act of band Queen on their "Magic Tour"). Follow-up albums On The Beach and Dancing with Strangers became big UK hits before the New Light Through Old Windows compilation album in 1988 brought Rea success. His next full album was to be his major breakthrough. The Road to Hell (1989) enjoyed massive success and became his first number one album in the UK. This success could not be mirrored in the U.S., where it only reached #107, in spite of the single track "Texas" achieving extensive radio airplay. The follow-up album, Auberge, also enjoyed massive European success, reaching the top spot in the UK.

Arctic Monkeys are an English alternative rock band from High Green, a suburb of Sheffield. Formed in 2002, the band currently consists of Alex Turner (lead vocals, guitar), Jamie Cook (guitar), Nick O'Malley (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Matt Helders (drums, backing vocals). Arctic Monkeys achieved chart success with their second single, "I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor", which reached number one in the UK Singles Chart. Their debut album Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not, released in January 2006, became the fastest-selling debut album in British music history, surpassing Oasis's Definitely Maybe and remaining the fastest-selling debut album for a band. It received critical acclaim, winning both the 2006 Mercury Prize and the 2007 BRIT Award for Best British Album. It was also nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album, but lost to Gnarls Barkley's St. Elsewhere. The band's second album, Favourite Worst Nightmare, was released on 23 April 2007, sold over 225,000 copies in its first week, and was nominated for the 2007 Mercury Prize. The group also picked up the award for Best British Album and Best British Group at the 2008 BRIT Awards. Arctic Monkeys were heralded as one of the first acts to come to the public attention via the Internet (fan-based sites rather than from the band), with commentators suggesting they represented the possibility of a change in the way in which new bands are promoted and marketed. The band eventually signed to the independent record label Domino Records.

Yusuf Islam (born Steven Demetre Georgiou, 21 July 1948), best known by his former stage name Cat Stevens, is a British musician. He is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, educator, philanthropist and prominent convert to Islam.

His albums Tea for the Tillerman and Teaser and the Firecat were both certified as Triple Platinum by the RIAA in the United States; his album Catch Bull at Four sold half a million copies in the first two weeks of release alone, and was Billboard's number-one LP for three consecutive weeks. He has also earned two ASCAP songwriting awards in consecutive years, for "The First Cut Is the Deepest", which has been a hit single for four different artists.

Stevens converted to Islam at the height of his fame in December, 1977, and adopted his Muslim name, Yusuf Islam, the following year. In 1979 he auctioned all his guitars away for charity and left his music career to devote himself to educational and philanthropic causes in the Muslim community. He has been given several awards for his work in promoting peace in the world, including 2003's World Award, the 2004 Man for Peace Award and the 2007 Mediterranean Prize for Peace. In 2006, he returned to pop music, with his first album of new pop songs in 28 years, entitled An Other Cup. He now goes by the single name Yusuf.

Snow Patrol are an alternative rock band, with members from Northern Ireland and Scotland. Formed at the University of Dundee in Dundee, Scotland in 1994, the band is now based in Glasgow. The band's first three records, the EP Starfighter Pilot, and the studio albums Songs for Polarbears and When It's All Over We Still Have to Clear Up, were commercially unsuccessful and were released by independent labels Electric Honey and Jeepster, respectively. The Pogues are a band of mixed Irish and English background, playing traditional Irish music with influences from punk rock and jazz, formed in 1982 and fronted by Shane MacGowan. They reached international prominence in the 1980s and early 1990s, until MacGowan left the band in 1991 due to drinking problems. They continued with first Joe Strummer and then Spider Stacy on vocals before breaking up in 1996. The band began performing together again in 2001, though they have yet to record new music.

Their politically-tinged music was influenced by The Clash, yet used traditional Irish instruments such as the tin whistle, banjo, cittern, mandolin, accordion, and others. In the later incarnations of the band, after the departure of Shane MacGowan, rock instruments such as the electric guitar would become more prominent. The first of The Pogues' albums, Red Roses for Me, borrows much from the punk tradition of MacGowan's previous band The Nipple Erectors (later dubbed "The Nips").

They have been household names for longer than they care to remember – three women whose careers have helped to define popular music. And now singers Lulu, Chaka Khan and Anastacia – combined age 156 – have joined forces to form a ‘supergroup’, with a series of concerts across the UK this Christmas. Organisers claim the venture, Here Come The Girls, will be a ‘footstomping, high octane, tongue-in-cheek musical extravaganza that will have everyone dancing in the aisles’ despite the performers’ advanced years. The concert series is the brainchild of Steven Howard, the producer behind the successful Viva La Diva stage show featuring ballerina Darcey Bussell and opera singer Katherine Jenkins. He said the show would ‘see the the girls sing and dance to their favourite songs from the Sixties right through to the Noughties’. Together, the trio certainly span pop’s decades. Lulu Kennedy-Cairns OBE, 60, first emerged with the single Shout in 1964. US singer/songwriter Chaka Khan, 56, is best remembered for her 1978 hit I’m Every Woman, while American modern-day diva Anastacia – at 40 she is the baby of the trio – released her fourth studio album last year. Songs being considered include Lulu’s Shout, Respect by Aretha Franklin and It’s Raining Men by the Weather Girls. Other possibilities are Lady Marmalade by Labelle and Bootylicious by Destiny’s Child. Mr Howard said: ‘We have glitz, glamour, half-naked men and non-stop hits and are hoping it will be the must-see Christmas show of 2009. It will be centred on the three superstars, each with their own unique sense of style and humour. The show will see the girls sing and dance to their favourite songs through the decades. It should appeal to fans of Sex In The City and Mamma Mia! It will be all about big hair, big heels and big voices.’ He added: ‘A show like this was something Lulu always wanted to do and we worked the idea up after we met a couple of years ago. Chaka Khan and Anastacia were her dream artists. They are all quite similar vocally and it was not hard to persuade them. They all wanted to do something different.’

Public Image Ltd. (PiL) are an English musical group formed in 1978 by vocalist John Lydon, guitarist Keith Levene, and bassist Jah Wobble. Rising from the ashes of the pivotal punk rock group the Sex Pistols, PiL branched out to a more experimental sound, and their early work is often regarded as some of the most challenging and innovative music of the post-punk era: the NME described PiL as "arguably the first post-rock group". Their later music would be somewhat more conventional, and although PiL have been inactive since 1992, Lydon (the band's only constant member) considers the group "on hiatus" rather than broken up. In September 2009, it was announced that Lydon will reform the group for a small British tour in December.

Alice in Chains is an American rock band formed in Seattle, Washington, in 1987 by guitarist Jerry Cantrell and vocalist Layne Staley. Although widely associated with grunge music, the band's sound incorporates heavy metal and acoustic elements. Since its formation, Alice in Chains has released three studio albums, three EPs, two live albums, four compilations, and two DVDs. The band is known for its distinct vocal style which often included the harmonized vocals of Staley and Cantrell, many of which are indebted to Cantrell's adolescent introduction to the medieval chant and organum of Perotin.

Alice in Chains rose to international fame as part of the grunge movement of the early 1990s, along with bands such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden. The band was one of the most successful music acts of the 1990s, selling over 17 million albums worldwide, including 14 million in the United States alone. The band achieved two number-one Billboard 200 albums (Jar of Flies and Alice in Chains), 11 top ten singles on the Mainstream Rock Tracks charts, and six Grammy Award nominations.

Slayer is an American heavy metal band from Huntington Park, California, formed in 1981. The band was founded by guitarists Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King. Slayer rose to fame as one of the leaders of the American thrash metal movement with their 1986 release, Reign in Blood, which has been called "the heaviest album of all time" by Kerrang!. The band is credited as one of the "Big Four" thrash metal bands, along with Metallica, Anthrax and Megadeth. Slayer's musical traits involve fast tremolo picking, guitar solos, double bass drumming, and shouting vocals.

Since their debut record in 1983, the band has released two live albums, one box set, four videos, two extended plays, and nine studio albums, four of which have received gold certification in the United States. The band has received three Grammy nominations, winning one in 2007 for the song "Eyes of the Insane", and one in 2008 for the song "Final Six". They have headlined music festivals worldwide, including Unholy Alliance and Ozzfest.

The Prodigy are an English electronic music group formed by Liam Howlett in 1990 in Braintree, Essex, England. Along with Fatboy Slim, The Chemical Brothers and The Crystal Method, as well as other acts they are pioneers of the big beat electronic dance genre which achieved mainstream popularity in the 1990s and 2000s, and are known for high-quality live performances. They have sold over 17 million records worldwide which is unequalled in dance music history.
Their music consists of various styles ranging from rave, hardcore, industrial and breakbeat in the early 1990s to electronic rock with punk vocal elements in later times. The current band members include Liam Howlett (composer/keyboards), Keith Flint (dancer/vocalist) and Maxim Reality (MC/vocalist). Leeroy Thornhill (dancer/very occasional live keyboards) was a member of the band from 1990 to 2000, as was a female dancer/vocalist called Sharky who left the band during their early period. The Prodigy first emerged on the underground rave scene in the early 1990s, and have since then achieved immense popularity and worldwide renown. Some of their most popular songs include "Charly", "Out of Space", "No Good (Start the Dance)", "Voodoo People", "Firestarter", "Breathe", "Smack My Bitch Up", "Omen" & "Warrior's Dance."

ZZ Top is an American rock trio that formed in late 1969 in Houston, Texas, US. The group members are Billy Gibbons (lead vocals, guitar), Dusty Hill (vocals, bass, keyboards), and Frank Beard (drums, percussion). ZZ Top have been together for four decades, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and were ranked number 44 on VH1 cable's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock". The band holds the distinction of being among the few rock bands still composed of its original recording members for nearly 40 years and until September 2006, the same manager/producer/image maker, Bill Ham.

ZZ Top was inducted by Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame during the annual induction ceremony on March 15, 2004. Beyoncé Giselle Knowles (born September 4, 1981), commonly known as Beyoncé, is an American R&B singer-songwriter, record producer, and actress. Profile:
Victoria Hesketh (Born 4 May 1984), better known by her stage name Little Boots, is a British electropop musician. She began her music career by appearing on the ITV Talent competition Pop Idol at the age of sixteen, afterwards going on tour in Europe with a jazz trio and later becoming the lead singer for the dance-pop band Dead Disco before eventually embarking on a sole career. Taking her stage name from the film Caligula (meaning Little Boots in Latin), from which she was nicknamed by a friend, she has become linked to a wave of recent breakthrough female artists in their 20’s including Lady Gaga, Ladyhawke and Florence and the Machine, in particular her win in BBC Sound of Music 2009 poll and a BRIT critics choice award nomination have brought her mainstream media attention. Her debut album, Hands, released on the 8th of June 2009, peaked at #5 in the UK album charts and to date has produced her highest charting single New in Town. As a musician Little Boots sings and plays the keyboard, piano, stylophone and a Japanese electronic instrument, called a Tenori-on.

Profile:
White Lies are an English alternative rock band from Ealing in West London. Formerly known as Fear of Flying, the band consists primarily of Harry McVeigh (lead vocals, guitar) Charles Cave (bass guitar and backing vocals), and Jack Lawrence-Brown (drums). The band are complemented by Tommy Bowen (keyboards) during live performances.

White Lies formed in October 2007, upon writing songs they felt didn't suit their original band. After delaying their first performance for five months to build up media hype, they earned a recording contract with Fiction Records days after their debut. The release of singles "Unfinished Business" and "Death" led to tours and festival appearances in the United Kingdom and North America, including a headline performance at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend and a place on the 2009 NME Awards Tour. Further singles "To Lose My Life" and "Farewell to the Fairground" led to further media attention and the band's first worldwide headline tour. Upon the release of their debut album, To Lose My Life..., White Lies became the first British act in 2009 to achieve a number one album.

At the beginning of 2009, White Lies featured in multiple "ones to watch" polls for the coming year, including the BBC's Sound of 2009 poll and the 2009 BRITs Critics' Choice Award. White Lies' musical style has been described as dark yet uplifting by the media, drawing comparisons to Joy Division, Editors and Interpol.

Barry Manilow to play Hyde Park. Compare ticket prices, buy the best

Barry Manilow has been confirmed for the BBC Proms In The Park event, in London's Hyde Park on September 12th. Also on the bill will be Katherine Jenkins and many more. Tickets are on sale now. The event will also see performances from acclaimed Icelandic tenor sensation Garoar Thor Cortes and the BBC Concert Orchestra under the baton of Martin Yates. The gig coincides with the traditional Last Night of the Proms show, and will culminate in a live video link-up with the Royal Albert Hall to allow promenaders to join in with old favourites like Jerusalem and Rule Britannia.

Miley Ray Cyrus (born Destiny Hope Cyrus on November 23, 1992) is an American singer, actress, and author. Cyrus is best known for starring as Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana in the Disney Channel series Hannah Montana. - The Mac is back with its classic Rumors line-up of Mick Fleetwood, Lindsey Buckingham, John McVie and Stevie Nicks. Tickets for London, Birmingham, Manchester, Sheffield and Glasgow are on sale now for late October/early November dates.
